Passenger traffic at Fortaleza Airport in 2018 broke a record, turning it into a successful case of airport concessions policy in Brazil. According to data from the traffic bulletin of the airports belonging to the German group Fraport, Fortaleza reached the mark of 6.6 million of passengers transported in 2018, an increase of 11.5% compared to 2017 and higher than the record of 2014 (6.3 million), when Fortaleza hosted World Cup.
