The recognition came on June 5, on World's Environment Day, in a virtual ceremony held between Brazilian and Dutch professionals.
June 5, 2020 - World's Environment Day, a date that will be marked in the history of the Port of Pecém (Complexo do Pecém). This is because, the Ceará terminal joined the Green Award chain today, as an Incentive Supplier when deciding to reward ships certified by the Green Award Foundation , with Headquarters in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. To mark the initiative, at the end of the morning of the 5th, a virtual ceremony was held across the borders of Latin America and Europe with the participation of representatives from Porto do Pecém and the Green Foundation Award.
The port of Ceará becomes the first port terminal in Brazil to be part of the Green Award network. Thus, with the objective of protecting the local community and the marine environment, the port starts to strengthen support and promotion safer and cleaner movement, using Green Award as a tool. The port now offers up to 10% discount on the fee for the use of mooring facilities for ships that hold a Green Award ship certificate.
The Green Award is a platform to promote safety, quality and environmental performance in transportation, facilitating a network of incentive suppliers with a wide range of benefits for certificate holders. Green Award certificate holders can demonstrate that they are above and beyond international standards and excellent commitment to safety and the environment through improvement to be continued.
