Since 2016, according to Comexstat data, the exports from Ceará to Africa have increased 40%, from 4.600.595.758US$ FOB to 6.431.869.761 US$ FOB in 2021, being one of the biggest increases between the state and other continents
The Brazil-Africa relationship has hundreds of years of history, marked by the slave trade until the 19th century, and a reapproximation in the second part of the 20th century. Nowadays, this relationship has been marked by the investments in the African continent in many segments, such as in mining, infrastructure and oil exploration.
Before the pandemic, according to the AfroChamber - Câmara de Comércio Afro-Brasileira, Ceará's exports continuosly grew for years in countries like Egypt, Cabo Verde, Liberia and South Africa, all of which are situated in completely different parts of the continent, which shows how far Ceará reaches within Africa. Now that the pandemic is increasingly under control, the resume of growth is expected in the next years, becoming a great opportunity for entrepreneurs (both in Africa and Ceará) to invest in this relationship.
